Client setup to print from a Windows device

 

Add networked printers

IMPORTANT

Make sure your Windows device is connected to the College's network.

  1. Download and run the Mobility Print Printer Setup (windows)
  2. On the License Agreement screen, click Next
  3. Select one or more printers you want to use; then click Next
  4. Enter your College Username and Password; then click Next
  5. Click Finish
  6. Print your document
  7. To add more printers, run the downloaded Windows Printer Setup again
NOTE

If you need to assign an account to your print job, then you can do so via the User Client.

Mobility Print supports Microsoft Windows 7+

To add a printer

IMPORTANT

Make sure your Apple Mac is connected to the College’s network.

  1. Navigate to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.
  2. Click the  icon under the Printers List
  3. The Add dialog is displayed - this dialog displays a list of all of the discovered printers on the network
  4. Select a printer. The Name, Location, and Use is displayed
  5. Check that Use is set to Secure AirPrint
  6. If Secure AirPrint is not displayed:
  7. Close the Add dialog.
  8. Disconnect from the network.
  9. Reconnect to the network.
  10. Try again. If you still cannot see Secure AirPrint, contact IT Support.
  11. Click Add.
  12. Print your document. When prompted enter your College username and password.
  13. Repeat for any other required printers.
NOTE

If you enter the wrong authentication details, MacBook devices do not show any warning message; your job just will not print.

If your job doesn’t print, check the Print Queue dialog. If the print job is there and has the message Held for authentication, click the  icon; then re-enter your login details.

 

NOTE

If you need to assign an account to your print job, then you can do so via the User Client.

Mobility Print supports macOS Yosemite+.

IMPORTANT

Make sure your iPad is connected to the College’s network.

Print with AirPrint

  1. Open the app that you want to print from.
  2. To find the print option, tap the app’s share icon — reply icon or share icon — or .
  3. Tap pinter icon or Print. If you can’t find the print option, check the app’s User Guide or Help section. Not all apps support AirPrint.
  4. Tap Select Printer and choose the printer called 'follow-me'.
  5. You will be prompted to enter your PaperCut Username and Password. Your username is your Student/CASES Code which is the first three letters of your surname and the four numbers, i.e. ABC0007 and your password is your date of birth in the formate DDMMYYYY.
  6. Choose the number of copies or other options, like which pages you want to print.
  7. Tap Print in the upper-right corner.
NOTE

If you need to assign an account to your print job, then you can do so via the Mobile web client, or via the Mobile web client - web clip.

Mobility Print supports iOS 9.2+.

 

Tips for printing

  • Reduce page margins as much as possible, ensure that the page size and orientation are correct, and use the Print Preview function before printing
  • When printing from PowerPoint, choose to print Handouts instead of Slides. You can print up to nine slides on one sheet

Troubleshooting

  • If your document isn’t printing check your print account to check you have credit
  • If you don't have credit students can top up thier credit via a Compass kiosk

Deleting a print job

  • Go to any copier and access the print queue by tapping your Compass Card or swiping ID card
  • Delete your print jobs using the Delete button on the copier

Printing and Photocopying charges depend on your choice of:

  • mono or colour printing
  • paper size (A4 or A3)

The default printer setting is double-sided (duplex) for printers that support duplex. You can change the setting manually to single-sided.

You can view all the print jobs against your student account to see whether they have been charged.

  1. Log in to the printing portal
  2. Click the Recent Print Jobs tab
  3. Click on filter and clear, if the filter is active at the top of the page
  4. Sort the report by clicking on the column title
  5. You can also export the report by clicking Export/Print at the bottom of the report
